Recent ATO changes

Recent ATO changes:

Online lodgement of PAYG withholding annual report

If you are an employee who pays wages and uses a payroll software to produce PAYG payment summaries for your employees, the ATO now requires you to lodge these electronically via the file transfer facility on their Business Portal. Many may have already received letters from the ATO advising that these need to be lodged electronically, if you don’t know how to lodge this, contact your tax agent, who can lodge it for you electronically – from your provided payroll software information.

Reducing Paper

The ATO will start reducing paper sent out in the mail, this means that calculation worksheets previously provided with your paper activity statement will no longer be provided. An electronic copy (and print version) is available online at http://www.ato.gov.au/calculators-and-tools/GST-for-BAS

Online Lodgement

As a result of the ‘ATO paper reducing efforts’ BAS clients who normally lodge Business Activity Statements online or via a tax agent, will no longer receive a paper copy of the Business Activity Statement. Your tax agent will receive the BAS statements via electronic channel in the future.
